Welcome to my newsletter, my little internet home.
I’m Becca and Lady Flour is my bakery. As a small business owner, baker, pastry chef, writer, recipe developer lady, I come here to share the things I’ve learned, the things I’m thinking about, and dessert ideas I need to get out of my head and on paper.
Why subscribe? These are things I share -
Recipes: I think about you a lot when I write recipes. You, dear reader. I’m a completely self taught baker so it’s really important to me that my recipes aren’t just a step-by-step list of instructions, but a guide to helping you become more confident. I’m also excited by non-traditional flavors and savory ingredients, so you’ll find a lot of that in my treats. My favorites right now are the fennel berry upside down cake and peach cornflake snickerdoodles. The list is small but growing :)
Personal Essays: The place where the newsletter started. I sent the first one on the second Thanksgiving after my friend Rebecca died, so this newsletter has always offered a very personal glimpse into life. These essays range from topics of grief, to comparing ex-boyfriends to Halloween candy, to the Jewish lens in which I view the middle east, to the lessons I've learned owning a small bakery.
Kitchen deep dive: This is where I’ll get a little bit nerdy with hopes of helping you become a more experimental and confident baker. Maybe it’ll be an overview of an ingredient, a plunge into a technique like making pastry cream, or guidelines for how I pair flavors together.
Monthly round-ups: Stories and essays about cake inspiration, life as a small business owner, things I’d rather be doing, things I cannot recommend more, and random moments worth sharing.
